Water at the pond in Feltham has been left untreated and turned murky green much to the disgust of residents.

Hundreds of fish are housed in the Feltham Green pond and many ducks can also be seen swimming along the waters, which has now also been littered with bottles, cans and plastics.

A clean up is desperately needed to turn the pond which is up to its neck in algae, back into a fresh clean spot.

One person tweeted this photo alerting Hounslow council to the current state of the pond.

On Tuesday (Aug 2), a group of volunteers made up of local residents and their families were down at Feltham Green doing a litter pick and clear up around the pond.

In the past, the historic pond near the High Street in Feltham has been sealed off following the unexplained death of a number of fish in June 201 .

The previous year it received a major clean up as aquatic life became endangered due to reduced oxygen levels and a tonne of debris.

In the past, geese have been found responsible for a large number of deaths of the fish in the pond.

Councillor Corinna Smart, cabinet member for public health and leisure at Hounslow Council, said:

“Carillion, who manage the borough’s parks on behalf of Hounslow Council, will continue the daily litter-pick but welcome residents getting involved in keeping the parks they enjoy visiting, clean and tidy.

"We also need park users to be mindful of not leaving their rubbish behind when using all our parks.

“The condition of the pond itself will continue to be monitored by Carillion staff to see how it can be managed and treated effectively.”
