London Underground staff are monitoring the use of toilets at Eastcote Tube station after needles were found in it.

Toilets at the station were temporarily closed, on the advice of British Transport Police, after the drug paraphernalia was discovered before Christmas.

It has now reopened but a Metropolitan Line manager says it is being monitored to ensure the safety of customers.

A notice had been placed on the door of toilets at the station reading: “Because of drug addicts using these toilets we have no option but to close them indefinitely.”

Dave White, London Underground General Manager of the Metropolitan line, said this week: “The toilets at Eastcote station were closed temporarily on the advice of the British Transport Police just before Christmas after needles were found, though still could be accessed by customers if they asked a member of staff.

“They are now fully open and staff at the station will be monitoring the situation to ensure they are safe to use for customers.”
