A block of flats in Hayes has been left abandoned since the contractors tasked with work went into administration in June 2015.

The site in Blyth Road, not far from Hayes and Harlington station, was planned to consist of 120 flats, 97 of which would be affordable.

But developers on the project, Paradigm Housing, are now considering its options with the site, 19 months after work first stopped.

The contractors originally responsible for the project, Woodlands Social Housing, went into administration in June 2015 and work has been stalled since.

Work was due to restart in 2016

Paradigm has blamed strict EU regulations for the delay and had planned to restart work in May 2016.

Speaking in March last year, director of business development at Paradigm, Andrew Main, said: “Funding is in place for the development of 120 new homes at Blyth Road.

“Unfortunately the original contractor has gone bankrupt so work on site has temporarily stopped while we appoint another.

“We're acutely aware of the need for more affordable homes in the region so doing our best to ensure work at Blyth Road starts again as soon as possible.

“We have to follow strict EU regulations when appointing contractors, which can be time consuming, however we expect things to get moving again with the next two months.”

The site may be sold

But when asked about the future of the development, and whether Paradigm would be selling the site, a spokesman for the developer said: “Work stopped when the main contractor went into administration.

“We are currently exploring our options.”

The planning application for the site was given planning approval by Hillingdon Council in September 2012.

Paradigm would not confirm whether the block of flats would be sold.
