Defiant police have launched an appeal for the public to stay strong following terrorist attacks in Paris that left at least 128 people dead.

From Friday night (November 13), terrorists opened fire inside the Rue Bichat restaurant, set off explosions at the Stade De France and held hundreds hostage at the Bataclan venue before opening fire.

The death toll is thought to be around at least 127, with around 180 injured.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Met police urged the public to stay strong with the police to make a stand against terrorism.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said: “We can’t let the terrorists defeat us. It comes down to trust between communities and police.

“The relationship between the public and police needs to be stronger than ever."

He added that the public may notice changes to policing including ports, streets and major events in the UK.
