A man was found dead in a car at an Ealing cemetery, in what police are treating as an "unexplained" incident.

Police said they were called to Greenford Park Cemetery, in Windmill Lane, Greenford , on Sunday (July 17) at 6.57pm to reports of a man trapped in a vehicle.

A Met Police spokesman said its officers attended, along with paramedics and firefighters, and a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

He said the man's next of kin had been informed and a report would be compiled for the coroner.

"The death is being treated as unexplained but at this stage is not believed to be suspicious," he added.

London Fire Brigade said it was called at 7.17pm that evening to reports of a "chemical incident" in Windmill Lane.

A spokesperson for the brigade said it was unable to provide further information as this was a police incident.

Residents reported seeing numerous police officers and firefighters at the scene, including some wearing what they described as chemical suits. They said the area was cordoned off until at least midnight.

Ealing Police recently appealed for help to identify 10 of its most wanted criminal suspects , who are wanted over offences including robbery.

Earlier this month, an inquest heard how an Uxbridge man had drowned while canoeing in the Grand Union Canal in a drunken celebration of getting a new job.
