A man's body has been found on a footpath beside the Grand Union Canal in Brentford .
Police and paramedics were called to the path, near Gallows Bridge, on Tuesday (March 15) shortly before 6.30am.
The man, aged 44, was pronounced dead at the scene, next to Boston Manor Playing Fields and close to the M4.
Police said his death is being treated as unexplained pending a post-mortem examination scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 16.
Officers believe they know the man's identity but his name has yet to be released as they are still attempting to trace and inform his next of kin.
An investigation into the man's death, which is being carried out by police in Hounslow , is ongoing.
