Staying in west London for a night or holiday?

You might want to take a look at TripAdvisor first, where hotel reviews range from gushing tributes to damning tales of overnight woes.

Getwestlondon has looked at reviews from some of west London's lowest ranked hotels to save you the trouble, and some of them are hilarious.

'A fraudulent dump'

Regency Court Hotel

A total of 32 people thought Regency Court Hotel, Penywern Road, Earl's Court, SW5 9ST, was "terrible".

It ranks 1,025 from 1,061.

One reviewer, Cathal G, who stayed there in January this year, titled their review a "fraudulent dump".

The reviewer said: "The door is always locked and you must buzz in and out to come and go from the so called hotel.

"The rooms are dusty and we were accompanied by a few rat bate stations.

"The bathroom was disgusting with no hot water tap working, half used shampoo, no soap and a shower that could not heat up.

"This is the worst hotel in the world and do not book here. I have never done reviews but I felt it was my duty to warn people of this fraudulent kip."

Getwestlondon approached Regency Court Hotel for comment and a spokesman said: "To be honest, we don't associate with TripAdvisor.

"If you look at the last four years we only get one review a year. We have numerous happy guests that have been repeat clients for over 17 years.

"For the safety & security of our guests, room keys are kept at the hotel reception, which is accessible at any time.

"On the advice of police, our front door remains locked & staff are present 24 hours on the premises.

"Likewise, a NO VACANCY sign is present to deter walk-by trade & casual inquiries - we ONLY accept online reservations.

"We are a small hotel that guests tell us is like a home from home; that is why we get a high volume of repeat business."

'I found a pube in the sink'

Locals say the Gresham Hotel, which appears on Google to be in Hanger Lane, W5 3HH, is no longer in use.

Bookings are not available and it appears to no longer be in business.

However, it still appears on TripAdvisor ranked 1,031 out of 1,061 hotels in London.

Back in 2014 the last published review, from ben735, said: "There was poo stains on the walls and on the bed and I found a pube in the sink, it was ginger too.

"There were dead bees in suspicious positions under my bed and a dirty sock with white stains on.

"The room was full of spiders and when I left there was a dirty condom in my shoe and when I woke up the door was open and a man was peeking at me.

"This hotel is terrible never go here. When I got home I found out that I had crabs."

Getwestlondon tried to contact the number which appears to be associated with the hotel on Google.

'Better off sleeping on a park bench'

The Lonsdale Hotel(Image: Google Maps)

The Lonsdale Hotel, in Bedford Place, WC1B 5JA, is described as a "straightforward budget hotel in a Georgian townhouse".

On TripAdvisor, 260 rated it "terrible" and it is ranked 1,022 from 1,061.

Sat R, who said he stayed at the hotel in April this year, said: "You would be better off sleeping on the benches in the park opposite.

"Unless you are desperate please reconsider staying here.

"Get to the room to find the door lock has been kicked off and the door is virtually hanging off the hinges.

"So had to wedge a chair in place to keep the door shut.

"Bed springs protruding through the mattress making sleep impossible. Also bed sheets had some kind of biting bugs that ensure u (sic) itch and scratch all night.

"Probably the worst hole I have ever stayed at."

'Wouldn't stay here again if I got paid'

Blair Victoria Hotel, in Warwick Way, Victoria, is described as a Victoria-era townhouse.

On TripAdvisor, it is ranked 1,024 from 1,061 hotels in London.

One reviewer, Callenin, who stayed there in May this year, said: "The toilet lid was completely torn off, all towels had stains and holes in them (yes, there were big HOLES in the towels), there was toxic black mold everywhere, the sink was broken, the breakfast we were promised was non-existing, the carpet smelled incredibly bad, the air-conditioning didn't work and the shower drain didn't work either so every time we took showers water from the sewer came rising up from the pipes and onto the shower floor.

"I wouldn't go back even if i got paid for it."
