'Particularly dangerous criminal'

The ammunition seized during the arrest

Detective Sergeant Damian Hill, from the London Crime Squad, said: “I am pleased with the sentence of Moncur as this sends out a strong message to anyone considering carrying a firearm in London that you will face a lengthy time behind bars if you do this.

“Thanks to the excellent work of the officers in my team, and with the assistance from our colleagues from the Force Firearms Unit, we have been able to safely recover this gun and ammunition and prevent it from being used in further crimes.

“The fact that Moncur was also found in possession of a silencer and 49 rounds of ammunition means that a particularly dangerous criminal has now been taken off the streets.”

Cash has been seized

Cash and drugs were also seized

Moncur, of Wandon Road, was jailed for nine years and six months at Kingston Crown Court on Thursday (December 22) and was also ordered to forfeit the seized cash.

The drugs, gun and ammunition will be destroyed.

After his arrest, Moncur was taken to Kingston Police station where he was interviewed by detectives, but gave no comment.
