Transport for London (TfL) are making essential repairs to the Woodheyes Footbridge in Brent.

The work will repair damage to the footbridge’s pedestrian walking area, caused after a tipper lorry hit it in September 2013.

The footbridge will be removed and taken off site to be refurbished for at least four weeks.

Access to the footbridge will be closed on Saturday (July 18) until the work is completed.

Alternative diversion routes will be signposted for pedestrians 24-hours-a-day while the footbridge is closed. Pedestrians are advised to allow more time for their journeys.

In order to remove the footbridge, the A406 Harrow Road to Neasden Underpass will be closed overnight in both directions from 10pm on Saturday to 6.30am the following day to ensure the safety of contractors carrying out the work.

There will also be some eastbound lane closures 100m after Drury Way for a short time from 10pm until midnight on Saturday to carry out highway repairs to support the new footbridge.

Road users are advised to seek alternative routes where possible.

The refurbished footbridge will be put in place overnight on Saturday August 15, which means the A406 Harrow Road to Neasden Underpass will be closed again from 10pm until 6am the following day

Matt Sercombe, TfL's head of tunnels and structures, said: “The Woodheyes Footbridge is a vital pedestrian crossing along the busy Harrow Road on the A406.

"These repairs will ensure a safe and accessible network for local people to nearby bus stops and supermarkets.”
