A Cranford road has been closed heading out of town because of a gas leak and emergency repair work.

The A4 is shut causing queuing traffic because of the leak and work is being carried out between The Parkway (Jolly Waggoners Roundabout) and The Avenue.

Congestion has built up on A4 to A30 Great South-west Road (Henlys Roundabout).

The A4 could be closed until Tuesday, March 28 while work is carried out.

Drivers are encourage to take a diversion to get to Heathrow Airport .

The National Grid, which operates the gas transition systems, has confirmed that the emergency repair work is likely to continue until next Tuesday (March 28).

Here is the traffic picture from Google Maps as of 10.30am.

Great South West Road appears to have cleared up mostly by The Parkway still looks heavily congested north bound heading up towards the M4 and Hillingdon.

We have contacted the National Grid for more information on the repair work and leak and await a response.

There are reports the work could take up to five days to complete.

Congestion looks back in most of the area, particularly in The Parkway heading up towards the M4.

A4 out of town closed, queueing traffic due to gas leak and emergency repairs between A312 The Parkway (Jolly Waggoners Roundabout) and The Avenue, congestion on A4 to A30 Great South-west Road (Henlys Roundabout).
The A4 could remain closed until 28th. For Heathrow, go up the A312 and use the M4 J4 Heathrow Spur.
