Police are finding double the amount of crack cocaine and ecstasy on the streets of London than last year, new figures reveal.

The amount of drugs being seized by officers is at an alarming high, and it is on the rise.

Figures obtained from a Freedom of Information request by getwestlondon show that 15.5kg of crack cocaine was found in 2014 and 2015, but has shot up to 23.5kg in 2016.

The staggering quantity is the same as police finding a gram of crack in London every 22 minutes on average.

Police found 331kg of cocaine last year and a cannabis plant was found every 16 minutes in London, with a total of 31,998 seized.

Finds of ecstasy have also have soared from 17,400 doses in 2014/15, to 56,800in 2015/16 - or a dose found every 11 minutes.

Cocaine has been found by police in west London after being smuggled in and out of Heathrow Airport several times

Inspector Adrian Hanna, who carries out raids in west London's Brent area, said: "Actions have consequences.

"If you break the law and harass decent law abiding citizens don't be surprised if the police kick your door in and you lose your property."

The findings come as a police raid by west London officers led to three arrests on Tuesday (November 29).
