A 41-year-old man has been charged by police in connection with armed robberies at separate bookmakers in Harrow and Wembley .

Darren Maunder, of no fixed abode, has been charged with five counts of robbery and four counts of possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police flying squad had appealed to the public to help track down a man wanted in connection with the two armed robberies, with police arresting a man yesterday after he had turned himself in .

The first of the incidents took place on May 31 at a bookmaker on College Hill Road, Harrow, while the second incident took place on June 4 at another bookmaker on Court Parade in Wembley.

Mr Maunder will appear in custody at Hendon Magistrates Court on Tuesday (June 14).
