A Hammersmith and Fulham councillor is getting ready to run a half marathon for a good cause.

Larry Culhane will take part in the Victoria Park RunThrough on January 31 and raise money for the Barons Court Project, a charity based in his ward which supports residents within the borough who are homeless or living with mental health problems.

The North End ward councillor, who is also head of community safety, environment and residents’ services policy at the council , said: “The volunteers at the project do an amazing job with some of our most vulnerable neighbours.

"However, they are desperate to increase the life-skills training and employability skills sessions they run and the funds we hope to raise will pay for extra classes each week to develop the potential of those who use the project.

“It really is a great cause.”

Michael Angus, project director of the Barons Court Project, said “Throughout the year, we serve over 150 people a year and greet up to 35 people per day.

"Our centre is busier than ever and we have more rough sleepers coming through our doors. Larry’s support will mean that we can do more for our service users and achieve positive outcomes.”
