In the lead up to May's London Mayoral elections , getwestlondon take a look at each party's manifesto to highlight their key points before you head to the polls.

The Green Party 's Sian Berry, a Camden borough councillor, shared her view on housing, transport, policing, crime and the environment in a speech at Parsons Green Depot this month.

Addressing the crowd, she said: “For the first time in history more than half the world lives in cities, and there is no better city to start changing the world than London.

“Greens put fairness at the heart of all our policies, building more homes with co-operative and smaller companies not big developers, funding expert to help communities defend their estates and helping private tenants with rent controls and a renters’ union so they can organise and stand together."

In a recent Reddit poll asking who users will vote for , an unconventional result showed the Green Party charging ahead of Conservative candidate Zac Goldsmith .

What do they pledge to do for Londoners? Here's 14 things you should know before you vote.

1. Stop estate demolitions and build new homes

Sian Berry has pledged to build 200,000 new homes and halt estate demolitions which are happening across the city. Half of the homes which will be built are to be be done affordably by councils, smaller developers, communities and housing associations

2. Support tenants’ rights via a London Renters Union

Funded by City Hall, the Renters Union will help renters get organised to rein in private rents and expose rogue lettings agents.

Working together with existing groups and campaigns, the union would provide advice to individual tenants facing problems, and will give private renters a stronger voice to lobby for new policies from the Mayor, local councils and the government.

3. Abolish fare zones by 2025 and introduce lower fares for outer London commuters

The Green Party want to remove fare zones across London and make commuting cheaper for those coming from outside the city. A new ticket would instead be introduced where people can use them for buses, Tubes and trains at no extra cost

4. Heavy pollution vehicles to be banned immediately

Should she become Mayor, Ms Berry has said she will immediately exclude the most polluting cars, vans and lorries from central London and speed up replacing diesel buses with hybrids and electric vehicles

5. Introduce a programme so more people are aware of health risks pollution brings

Ms Berry said: "I believe in telling Londoners the truth about the risks.

"Policies include clear warnings about bad air days so people can protect their health by cutting car use and avoiding outdoor exercise, and more information on the streets too."

6. Save arts and music venues

Ms Berry said it is important to the party to save arts and music venues from "predatory developers", by setting up a register of “meanwhile” spaces in empty buildings to provide a home for arts and cultural organisations under threat from property speculation

7. Abolish and replace the anti-extremism Prevent strategy

In order to bring communities together, the Green Party want to get rid of the government's current anti-radicalisation Prevent programme and introduce a new programme which incorporates the concerns of faith leaders, teachers, parents and young people who feel the current programme isn't suitable.

8. Close down City Airport

The space would then be used for a new business and housing quarter

9. Introduce a "student" rent price

Based on research and a campaign set up by London Young Greens, an official figure for a London Student Living Rent on an annual basis would be created.

10. Use green energy to power crossrail

Focused on our "future needs", the Green Party will focus on bringing up solar powered energy to power 20% of the city, rather than the current 1%. A new company created by the party will start by putting solar panels up across TfL’s own 5,700-acre estate of stations, depots, offices, other commercial units and brownfield sites.

11. Create a community homes unit - and block Earl's Court development

A newly formed Community Homes Unit would provide expertise and grants to get involved in planning at an early stage. It would also help residents fight council to set up their own community homes body to help them through legal hurdles.

12. Fight against any airport expansion

The Green Party are against any airport expansion in London

13. Make sure more people are on London Living Wage

The Green Party have written in their manifesto that everyone in London should be on the Living Wage should they be running at City Hall, which means the 1 in 5 people who currently aren't, should have their wages increased.

14. Create a Bank for London to strengthen the economy

A new London Bank would be created to support small businesses across the city and the local economy
