A construction worker has died after collapsing at a building site in Acton.

The man is believed to have collapsed on Friday (June 12), while on scaffolding one-storey up at the new primary school construction site, next door to Berrymede Junior school, in Osborne Road.

Fire crews arrived on the scene just after midday to calls of a man collapsed on the first level of the scaffolding.

A line ops crew had to winch the man down to ground level using a stretcher and ropes.

Witness Jason Guest said: “Police were there, and ambulances, and also two fire appliances from Paddington.

"It was Friday and I arrived around 2.30pm and the ambulance was just behind me.

"It looked serious.”

A spokesman from the construction company behind the build, Bouygues UK, said: “We can confirm that a non-construction related incident occurred on our site in Ealing on Friday (June 12).

"A gentleman working for a subcontractor company was taken unwell and the emergency services were called.

“Sadly, we have been informed that the gentleman has passed away.

"Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with the family and friends of the gentleman at this very sad time.

“Out of respect for the family it would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment.”
