A South West Train spokesman said that a signalling problem between Barnes Bridge and Hounslow has resulted in all trains between those stations being suspended.

This is also causing up to 30 minute delays between Barnes and Hounslow.

Getwestlondon news editor Chris Longhurst, who is currently caught up in the delays, said: "It's chaos with people everywhere trying to find alternative routes. I'm going to have to make my way to the office via an inconvenient detour to Osterley."

The following amendments are currently in place:

The London Waterloo and Hounslow services are cancelled in both directions.

London Waterloo to London Waterloo services via Barnes and Hounslow are cancelled in both directions.

London Waterloo to Weybridge via Staines services are being diverted via Twickenham and are stopping additionally at Richmond and Twickenham.

There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 10:00.

Alternative routes where tickets will be accepted

Passengers may use London Buses and London Underground via any reasonable route and London Overground between Richmond and Clapham Junction.
