If you're planning on heading out and about on the tube or rail this weekend beware there are a number of planned closures.

There are planned Network Rail track works affecting the London Overground and signalling tests resulting in the closure of several underground lines, affecting parts of west London.

Meanwhile, on the rail there are major engineering works affecting people travelling on South Western Railway.

On the tube - On Saturday (September 9) and Sunday (September 10)

CIRCLE LINE: There is a planned closure with no service on the entire line while new signal testing is carried out at Baker Street and Edgware Road.

DISTRICT LINE : Part closed with no trains running between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road while engineers test new signalling at Baker Street and Edgware Road.

HAMMERSMITH & CITY LINE : Part of the line will be closed between King's Cross St Pancras and Hammersmith to test new signalling at Baker Street and Edgware Road.

Planned closures on the London Underground

METROPOLITAN LINE : No train services operating between Wembley Park and Aldgate to allow for track and drainage replacement work between Baker Street and Finchley Road.

Alternative routes include use of the Jubilee line between Wembley Park and Baker Street or Chiltern Railways services between Marylebone and Harrow-on-the-Hill.

LONDON OVERGROUND: No services will be running between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction due to Network Rail infrastructure and track work as well as Earl's Court development work.

And on Sunday only until 12pm, and after 8.30pm, there will be no service operating between Kilburn High Road and Euston due to Network Rail track work.

Passengers are advised to plan ahead and use alternative London Underground and London Buses services, allowing extra time for their journeys.

No train services will operate between Barnes and Hounslow via Richmond.

South Western Railway

Replacement bus services will run to allow Network Rail to carry out engineering works on the line.

The work will take place between Barnes, Feltham and Strawberry Hill, closing various lines.

All lines in the Twickenham area will also be closed for work on the station and replacement bus services will run through Barnes to Teddington to Hounslow and trains diverted via Brentford.

Among the routes affected are London Waterloo and Windsor & Eton Riverside / Reading and between London Waterloo and Kingston via Brentford.

Trains running with additional stops or alternative routes with longer journey times:

  • Between London Waterloo and Reading. These trains will be diverted, calling at Barnes and Hounslow instead of Richmond and Twickenham.
  • Between London Waterloo and Windsor & Eton Riverside. These trains will make extra stops and also be diverted via Hounslow.
  • Replacement bus services will run between Barnes and Hounslow via Twickenham to connect with these train services.
  • Between London Waterloo and Woking via Hounslow and Staines.
