A suspected World War Two ordnance has been found near Turnham Green station in Chiswick.
Metropolitan Police officers were called just before 12pm on Tuesday (October 24) to Thornton Avenue.
The area, including the Tube station, has been evacuated as a precaution, including some buildings.
Turnham Green Terrace was closed between Chiswick High Road and Bath Road but reopened at around 1pm.

The District line has resumed a good service now.
There are still minor delays on the Piccadilly line from Acton Town to Heathrow all terminals and Uxbridge.

Ordnance was found 'on Tube tracks'
We asked the Met Police where exactly in Thornton Avenue the suspected WWII ordnance was found.
They said it was “on the tracks that run parallel to Thornton Avenue”.

Tube update
There are now severe delays on the District line from Earls Court to Richmond and Ealing Broadway and minor delays on the Piccadilly line between Acton Town and Uxbridge.
WWII ordnance taken away "to be made safe"
The Met Police have just told us the road has been reopened and the incident “stood down by police”.
A spokesman added that the WWII ordanace has been removed and taken away to be made safe.
He also said that the suspicious item had been described as WWII ordnance but that further tests will need to confirm it.

No Piccadilly line between Acton Town and Hammersmith
There is no Piccadilly line service between Acton Town and Hammersmith due to a security alert at Stamford Brook, TfL said.
Meanwhile there are severe delays on the District line from Earls Court to Richmond and Ealing Broadway due to an earlier security alert at Stamford Brook.

Police were called at 11:58hrs on Tuesday, 24 October to reports of suspected WW11 ordnance on Thornton Avenue, W4.
Cordons and road closures have been put in place, and the area has been evacuated as a precaution.
