The owner of a massage parlour in Chiswick has been fined £2,000 for offering special treatments without a licence.

Li Ping Yang admitted offering treatments at Nutri Herb, in Turnham Green Terrace, including acupuncture and Thai massage, without the necessary licence.

Yang, of Limewood Close, Ealing, pleaded guilty to one count of contravening a prohibition notice and two counts of using the premises for special treatment without a licence.

At Feltham Magistrates' Court on May 11 she was fined £2,000 for contravening the prohibition notice and ordered to pay costs of £2,300, plus a victim surcharge of £120. She received no additional sentence for the other two offences.

Yang had been issued with a prohibition notice by Hounslow Council on August 20 last year, banning her from offering any special treatments at the parlour.

But two weeks later, on September 4, a till receipt was found showing 18 Thai massages had been given there in that time, generating £755, the council said.

She was also found to be still advertising services including acupuncture and reflexology.
