A man was allegedly assaulted by a group of schoolchildren on Chiswick High Road on Monday evening (April 24).

The incident reportedly happened at the junction with Windmill Road at 6.15pm and involved a middle aged man who received a minor facial injury in the attack.

One eyewitness, who asked to be named only as James, saw the incident unfold.

He said: "The man was fine and I think he got away.

"A bystander jumped in and threatened to call the police if he [one of the schoolchildren] didn't leave the man alone, another woman was screaming saying get off of him."

He added that he thought eight or nine schoolchildren were present during the incident.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at approximately 6.15pm on Monday, 24 April to reports of a man being assaulted by a group of schoolchildren in Chiswick High Street, W4.

"The man received a minor facial injury.

"Two males were arrested on suspicion of ABH and remain in custody at a west London police station.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing."
