Chelsea FC star Cesc Fabregas has been banned from driving for six months after admitting speeding at 110mph on the A3 in Surrey.

Guildford Magistrates' Court was told on Friday morning that the Spanish midfielder had pleaded guilty to a charge of exceeding the 50mph speed limit in contravention of a local traffic order.

The court heard he was clocked by a police officer holding a speed camera, driving at 110mph in the 50mph zone on the northbound Esher bypass.

Fabregas was understood to have been behind the wheel of a metallic green coloured Aston Martin Vantage at the time.

He was ordered to pay £2,560, made up of a £1,000 fine, £625 court costs, £840 to the expert who examined the camera and a £100 victim surcharge.

The player was given six points on his licence, taking him up to 12 in total and therefore giving him an automatic six-month driving ban.
