Chelsea FC star Cesc Fabregas was fined £1,000 and given six points on his licence for failing to identify the driver of his Aston Martin when it was stopped by police.

The 28-year-old Spanish midfielder - full name Francesc Fabregas Soler - was also told to pay a £100 victim surcharge and costs of £85 at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Friday (May 22).

His Aston Martin was pulled over on October 27 last year - the day after Chelsea secured a 1-1 draw at Manchester United.

Fabregas, of Upper Belgrave Street, Knightsbridge, did not appear in court.

He was ordered to pay the court costs by Friday June 5.
