A 35-year-old motorcyclist has died at the scene of a collision with a car at the north end of Battersea Bridge.

It happened at around 6.38am on Wednesday morning (October 4) at the junction of Battersea Bridge, Beaufort Street and Chelsea Embankment.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and paramedics from London Ambulance Service treated the motorcyclist for head injuries but he died shortly afterwards.

The man was driving a Honda motorcycle when he was in collision with a Toyota Prius. The driver of the Prius stopped at the scene, said police.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit and Chelsea Police have launched an investigation. No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

Motorists were warned by police to avoid the area where possible

Several local road closures were put in place, including Chelsea Embankment westbound from Albert Bridge and Battersea Bridge itself.

Police were diverting traffic and advised all motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police on 101.
