Police have closed off a road in Chelsea after a cyclist was killed in a collision with a lorry on Monday May 22 morning .

The incident occurred in Fulham Road, at the interchange with Redcliffe Gardens and Edith Grove, at 10.38am.

Officers have not identified the deceased, but say he is male and thought to be in his 50s.

Paramedics pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene and witnesses say a forensics tent has gone up on the road.

Transport for London (TfL) is advising motorists to avoid the area, while Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is warning those with appointments to allow extra travel time.

Buses are also running on diversion.

Police remain at the scene with roads still cordoned off on Monday afternoon.

Police say the lorry driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.

The collision comes less than a week after a cyclist suffered life-threatening injuries following a collision with a lorry in Wood Lane, near the Westway, at White City.

Witnesses of the Fulham Road collision are being asked to contact investigating officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command on 020 8543 5157.
