As a couple from Bedfont wait for a ruling in their long-running court battle to take their sick son abroad for treatment, well-wishers in Indonesia have sent nearly £10,000.

Chris Gard and Connie Yates, the parents of Charlie Gard, recently received a donation of £9,100 signed "with love from Indonesia" on a fundraising page set up in January.

The couple, both in their 30s, started an appeal on GoFundMe to cover doctors' bills in the US raising more than £1.3million so far.

The nine-month-old tot has a rare genetic condition called mitochondrial disease and has brain damage.

His parents are fighting to overturn a High Court judge's decision to stop his life-support treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital where he is being cared for and move to a palliative care regime.

They want to be able to take Charlie to the US to undergo a therapy trial called nucleoside.

However specialist doctors at the London hospital are against any therapy in the US.

And on April 11 Mr Justice Francis ruled against a trip to America and the parents now await a decision by appeal judges.

Lord Justice McFarlane, Lady Justice King and Lord Justice Sales analysed the case at a Court of Appeal hearing in London on Tuesday (May 23).

A ruling is expected to be delivered on Thursday.
