An appeal has been launched to track down a man after a member of staff who was violently attacked at Willesden Junction station in Harlesden.

On Monday (July 18) officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) released images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the ‘nasty’ incident where the 49-year-old staff member was pushed to the floor and punched four times.

He suffered from some swelling and bruising to his eye as a result of the assault.

The attack happened shortly after 6.40pm on Monday (July 4), when the suspect left an overground train service from Stratford and headed towards the ticket barriers, where he provoked an argument with station staff and became hostile.

BTP officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or recognise the man in the CCTV images to come forward.

Investigating officer PC Katie Lockwood said: “This was a violent, unprovoked and nasty assault and we are determined to trace the person responsible.

“No one should ever be treated like this and we will always look to take firm action against those who assault, intimidate or harass passengers and rail staff.

“As part of my enquiries BTP have seized CCTV and spoken with witnesses. However, we are keen to speak with anyone else who may have witnessed this assault or recognise the man in the CCTV images.”

Anyone with any information should contact BTP by text on 61016 or by calling 0800 405040 quoting reference 165 of 18/07/2016 or call Crimestoppers information anonymously on 0800 555111.
