A young disabled woman was left with a suspected broken rib after being elbowed by a fellow bus passenger.

The incident, following an alleged dispute over a priority seat, occurred on on a route 73 bus in Westminster.

The 22-year-old victim, who suffers from osteoporosis which causes the bones to be brittle and fragile, was sitting in the priority seating area at the front.

Police said as she got up to leave at Great Titchfield Street, the suspect elbowed her hard in the stomach, causing her to fall back onto the floor.

The victim later went to hospital and was treated for a suspected broken rib, according to officers.

The suspect is described as a woman of Mediterranean appearance, aged about 60, with short grey hair, wearing glasses and using a wheeled walking frame.

Police have released a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with the assault which occurred on Thursday March 12 at about 3.40pm.
