A schoolgirl who designed a card to celebrate Portobello and Golborne Market’s 150th Christmas has switched on its festive lights.

Ten-year-old Miki Keric’s winning design, which features Paddington Bear, was chosen by traders in a competition which attracted over 390 entries.

And as a reward, the St Barnabas and St Philip’s Primary School pupil was invited to switch on the market’s Christmas tree lights November 14.

Meanwhile, shoppers at the market have a chance of winning prizes if they take part in the Christmas Shopping Passport Promotion by collecting five tokens from participating stores.
