Motorists can expect delays after a car smashed into railings in the Twickenham area.

Police at the scene of the accident on Staines Road at the junction with Hospital Bridge Road reported no injuries.

The Metropolitan Police said they were called around 9.40am to a car crashed into railings causing damage only.

Roads were closed in both directions and bus routes 290 and 490 placed on diversion while officers waited for the vehicle to be removed.

The car was taken away around 10.45am and roads were expected to reopen shortly after.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “At around 9.40am a car crashed into railings and it was damage only. The incident caused blockage on Staines Road at the junction with Hospital Bridge Road.

“The vehicle has been removed and roads are expected to re-open.

“There were no injuries reported.”
