A car burst into flames after crashing in a shop on Station Road in Harrow in the early hours of July 2 (Saturday).

The Fire Brigade were called to the incident at 3.36 am and had the blaze under control by 6.16.

Eight fire engines and 53 firefighters and officers were sent to deal with the fire from Northolt , Harrow, Stanmore and Wembley and were able to evacuate residents.

The shop, which is an accountancy firm on the ground floor of the building, was completely destroyed by the incident but there was also damage to the offices that are on the first floor of the block.

Station Road is closed to the junction of Pinner Road and motorists are being asking to avoid the area if possible, while there is pedestrian access to North Harrow underground station.

There have been no reports of any injuries at this time.
