Campaigners are preparing to hold a rally ahead of the first public meeting opposing plans for a Crossrail 2 station in Chelsea.

Members of the No Crossrail in Chelsea campaign will hold a protest outside Chelsea Old Town Hall on King's Road on Tuesday November 3, to send a clear message against a diversion through their neighbourhood, to Transport for London and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea council.

The campaign group has seen celebrity backers led by actress Felicity Kendal join more than 4,000 local residents and business owners in saying 'No' to a station in Chelsea and instead a direct route from Victoria to Clapham Junction.

It will be the first public meeting to take place since TfL ditched plans for a station on the site of Chelsea Fire Station, opting instead for a site on the corner of Sydney Street and King's Road, in the heart of Chelsea.

The group have argued a new high capacity railway station will destroy the character and charm of Chelsea.

The rally will take place on the same day TfL is hosting a Crossrail 2 roadshow event (between midday and 8pm) and the council's first public meeting (between 6.30pm & 8.30pm), on Tuesday November 3 from 5.45pm.
