Heathrow is hosting its 19th annual business summit for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in November.

The event is designed to give smaller businesses locally, nationally and internationally, a chance to network with companies involved in the airport's infrastructure.

Dozens of companies from construction and engineering to freight and aviation security have signed up to exhibit including Balfour Beatty Plc; dnata; Fujitsu; Omni Serve; and many more, connecting SMEs to trade directly with Heathrow's supply chain.

West London councils will also be at the event and are urging SMEs in surrounding boroughs to the airport to seize the opportunity and pitch to industry big-hitters for the chance to grow.

Hounslow council leader councillor Steve Curran, said: “We’re proud to be a key partner in this summit as it offers a real helping hand to local businesses that want to be able to capitalise on the enormous business opportunities that Heathrow offers.

“Small and medium-sized businesses are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the numerous procurement opportunities but some need this kind of expert advice to make sure they are tailoring their businesses to meet the specific needs that the airport has.”

Among the success stories from previous year's are LED Lighting Dynamics Ltd in Hayes, which also runs a small operation in Harefield in Hillingdon.

Adnan Amin, Managing Director of LED Lighting, first attended the summit in 2011 and has been to every one thereafter.

Mr Amin said: "Through the Heathrow Business Summit we secured a contract to install our LED Lighting systems in a Hillingdon Borough school with fantastic success.

"We are now on the Hillingdon Schools and Libraries procurement list of LED Lighting suppliers and the future for LED Lighting Dynamics Ltd looks very exciting.

"This has all been made possible thanks to the Heathrow Business Summit which has opened up new business opportunities to help us expand our company."

The Heathrow Business Summit will be held on Tuesday November 10 at the Park Inn Radisson hotel on Bath Road from 9am to 5.30pm.

You must book your place six weeks before the event.
