Work has begun on the multi-million pound redevelopment of the Kings Mall shopping centre in Hammersmith , which will be home to new big brand fashion retailers, a revamped food hall and gym.

The £5 million renovation sees a huge new frontage for the New Look store, which opened on Thursday (November 2) after a brief closure while work took place and other exciting names will be joining in the next year.

New Look previously had a internal unit in the shopping centre but left in 2014.

Shoppers may also have noticed the removal of a huge concrete staircase and a host of improvements, including refurbishments to the building’s atrium and new lift, stair and floorworks.

James Lass is the fund manager at Schroder UK Real Estate Fund, the owner and development specialists behind Kings Mall .

He said: “More than £5m is being invested in the renovation of Kings Mall.

“We’ve used the highest quality floor tiles to ensure the building itself now reflects the same quality as our retailers.

He added: “We have installed double frontage windows which has dramatically improved the appearance of the building from the street, and increased ceiling heights to provide a more welcoming and open feel inside.

“Importantly, we are doing all this with a view to achieving our single vision of illustrating the dynamic growth of Kings Mall as a retail and leisure destination.”

The revamped food hall will include Feast Canteen

Other businesses soon to be moving into the centre include Frame health and fitness studio and new pop-up eatery Feast Canteen, from the team behind the hugely popular Pergola on the Roof.

Frame, which already has four sites in the capital, will open its first branch in west London, and occupy more than 5,000 sq ft across three levels.

Looking forward to Feast Canteen joining, Mr Lass said: “We’ve been working really hard with the team to make sure they have everything they need to be able to give our shoppers, colleagues and visitors a fantastic and fresh dining experience, and we’re so excited to be able to host them at Kings Mall.”

The arrival follows hot on the heels of Italian cosmetics company Kiko Milano, who signed a 10-year lease at the centre.

One of Cosmopolitan’s brands to watch, the new store is now open in Kings Mall stocking professional make-up, skin care and beauty products.

The centre now boasts a double-height frontage for its huge, new, New Look store

The new food hall has space for 350 diners, and will serve up food from Patty & Bun, Salvation Noodles, Breddos Tacos and Born & Raised, seven days a week.

“This is the most exciting time in the history of Kings Mall,” said Mr Lass.

“Between now and the new year, we anticipate making a raft of exciting announcements concerning our newest retailer and leisure outlets which we’re sure will excite the people of Hammersmith and the whole of west London,” he said.

“Our plan is to transform Kings Mall into an even more exciting and vibrant shopping experience, and today marks the first step in achieving our ambition.”
