A building firm has scooped a top industry prize for its work in Hammersmith .
Lucinda Sandford Ltd won a Master Builder Award for work which transformed a neglected furniture store in Shepherd's Bush Road, Brook Green , into an appealing community space.
It incorporates a deli and café, play areas and dance studios for local families to use known as The Corner House.
The firm from Rotherhithe took the prize for the best commercial project in the Federation of Master Builders’ (FMB) London region.
If the company wins the overall Master Builder Awards title, selected from all category winners, it will receive a brand new Vauxhall Light Commercial Vehicle worth up to £20,000, while their clients will also receive a cheque for £1,000.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel in London on September 15 and will be hosted by TV presenter and building enthusiast Nick Knowles.
The entire Corner House project, from concept to colour, was designed by Lucinda Sandford and delivered to a tight deadline, allowing it to open immediately after Christmas.
Barry Mortimer, FMB London director, said: “Time and time again we have been impressed with just how far these builders will go to ensure their client is happy.
"It is this dedication that we want to celebrate. Lucinda Sandford Ltd should feel justly proud of their achievement in winning and we wish them every success in the national competition.”
