British telemark ski racing champion Jasmin Taylor took to the slopes in Chiswick this week to kick start her training away from the mountains.

A bronze medallist at the recent world championships, Ms Taylor chose Skiplex, at Dukes Meadows, to train and was thrilled to find she could replicate most of her outdoor moves, indoors.

During the experimental training session she discovered the biggest difference from ski racing on the snow mountains to the dry slopes was being warmer.

Ms Taylor said: “It was amazing I didn’t think I would be able to replicate many of my moves on the Skiplex but have completely changed my mind.

"It is fantastic to use from a training point of view and many thanks to Refresh and Skiplex for a great day, I will be back!”

Refresh Athlete Development and Physio, based at Dukes Meadows, work with Jasmin and her coaching team.

Alasdair Jones, owner of Refresh Physio, said: “Jasmin is a tremendous athlete and is embarking on a very cutting-edge program of training that is both experimental and ground-breaking, led by some outstanding telemark skiing coaches.

“When we opened our new clinic at Dukes Meadows we thought it provided great training space with the Skiplex, gym and golf course.

"Lots of pre-season work is about loosening up and cross training and at Dukes Meadows we are able to work with athletes to offer an all round experience.”

James O’Connor, Skiplex Chiswick centre manager, added: “This is a first for us, we have never had a telemark skier on our Skiplex slope and we were really excited to see Jasmin in action.”
