A British Airways flight travelling from London to Switzerland was forced to turn back after reports of smoke inside the aircraft.

Flight BA752 which was scheduled to take off from London Heathrow at 7.40am this morning (November 17).

Shortly after take off however, it was forced to turn back due to a suspected technical fault.

London Fire Brigade confirmed that they did attend but a spokesman said they "took no action."

A substitute aircraft was provided for passengers, which took off three hours later, bound for Basel.

A spokesman for British Airways said: "​The safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority, and our flight returned to the airport due to a suspected technical fault with the aircraft."
