Christmas spirit is flowing freely at this pub, which treated pensioners to a slap up meal ahead of the big day.

The Lord Nelson, in Enfield Road, Brentford, served up roast turkey and all the trimmings to 20 elderly people in the neighbourhood on Monday (December 21).

Landlord Richie Jones also organised from some local carol singers to serenade the special guests, and Elaine Bridge, of Hobbayne Primary School, in Hanwell, arranged for pupils in her class to write a Christmas poem for each diner.

Mr Jones said: "I wanted to do something a bit different this Christmas. I wanted to do something that can genuinely make a difference to the people who live where I live, who aren't as lucky as me, and who need some TLC.

"Supporting the vulnerable and needy is very important to us here at The Lord Nelson and I’m only too happy to help."

The pub teamed up with Age UK Hounslow to organise the treat for the pensioners, who struggle to cook for themselves and face spending Christmas alone.
