A man taken to hospital with life threatening injuries after an altercation involving "a number of individuals" is now in a stable condition, police have said.

Officers were called at 4.20am on Saturday May 27 to reports of an incident in Ealing Road, Brentford where a male had been injured.

The police and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found a man in his 30s with a head injury.

He was taken to a central London hospital where he remains in a stable condition, police confirmed on Sunday May 28.

The Metropolitan Police said in a statement that in the early hours of Sunday May 28, a 32-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

They are currently in custody at a west London police station.

Enquiries continue.
