Wembley is set to become the next London location to get a Boxpark, it was announced on Friday (September 22).

Following the success of the pop-up retail hubs in Shoreditch and Croydon, Boxpark Wembley's site is due to open on Olympic Way in Wembley Park in 2018.

Food and drink vendors from across the capital will occupy Wembley Boxpark's 29 shipping container units.

It will also have a 2,000 capacity arena for large-scale events, and a BoxBar selling craft beers, fine wines and spirits.

Roger Wade, Boxpark’s creator and chief executive, said: "We look forward to working closely with Quintain, Brent Council, and the other venue operators on the site, to develop a world class food, drink and entertainment destination, and possibly the best fan park in the world!

"Wembley Park is already home to thousands of residents and welcomes over 11 million visitors each year.

"It is also one of the most connected corners of north London and benefits from a wide range of attractive public spaces, housing developments and office and workspaces.

He added: "Boxpark Wembley hopes to establish itself as part of the growing developments in the area and provide an alternative place to eat, drink and play."

As well as food and drink, Boxpark Wembley will host events and it is hoped it will become a cultural hub.

Wembley Park is currently home to more than 6,000 people and the construction of 3,000 new homes is due to begin at the end of the year.

Chief executive of Quintain, the company overseeing the £2billion Wembley Park development, Angus Dodd, said: "We are working hard to ensure that Wembley Park is an exciting place to rent and live in London and this brand new space is another way in which we are demonstrating that.

The Boxpark will have a BoxBar, selling craft beers, fine wines and spirits.

"Boxpark Wembley will open up Wembley Park to a whole new audience and we are looking forward to welcoming them, along with those that live and work here already, as we work closely with Boxpark to deliver this new exciting venue for London."
