Reports local Tory candidate for the general election Boris Johnson was allegedly assaulted by a Brentford football supporter have been denied.

The Mayor of London and candidate for the Uxbridge and South Ruislip seat was on an East Coast mainline train to Kings Cross on Saturday (20) evening.

Twitter user Fiona Day was first to spot Mr Johnson as she tweeted to say ‘Boris Johnson is on my train. Not even in first class, he’s a peoples man appaz’.

It is believed the Mayor was returning from a grouse shoot when at some point in the journey a scuffle broke out between rival football fans.

A spoksewoman for the Mayor’s office confirm Mr Johnson was on the train but denied he had been involved in any violence or been harmed in any way.

She was not able to identify which teams the rival supporters were followers of, however Brentford lost 4-0 away to Middlesborough on Saturday so it is possible fans of the club would have been on the train making their way home to London.

A fellow twitter user calling themselves FFC Jimmy tweeted they had seen a man they claimed to be a Brentford fan being arrested by police and removed from the train at Doncaster.

Many other twitter users have suggested FFC Jimmy is fan of the Bees big rivals Fulham and may simply be stirring up trouble.

Other comments sent in relation to the claims included codhead99 who wrote ‘I hope it gets as much publicity and public outrage as the assault on George Galloway’ while Colin Carroll wrote simply ‘there goes the new stadium’.

This is in relation to the fact Mr Johnson’s office were one of the three organisations which approved Brentford’s new 20,000 seater ground to be built next year in Lionel Road South, Kew Bridge.

The spokeswoman for the mayor’s office simply said: “It’s not true. This is just twitter at its finest!”
