A pair of bookworms are set to embark on the next chapter in their lives together when they become the first couple to get married at Fulham Library.

Emma Wales and her groom Toby Saunders will tie the knot at the Fulham Road library in April after the venue was given the go ahead to host weddings at the end of last year.

And the couple, who live in south London but have family in Fulham , were given something extra to celebrate when Hammersmith and Fulham Council agreed to waive the hall hire fee to mark the landmark event.

Emma, 36, said: “We really like books and we thought ‘great, let’s get married at a library’.

“We were looking for something that wasn’t a church.

"We just saw it and thought it was great – and of course it’s very important to support your local library.”

The couple were congratulated by Cllr Wesley Harcourt, who said: “Fulham Library is a great venue and I hope other couples take a leaf out of their book and enjoy getting married or having a civil partnership there.”
