Hundreds of bus users were evacuated from Victoria Coach Station on Wednesday morning (August 31) after a 'suspect package' was found in the area.

The busy station in Buckingham Palace Road was evacuated just after 11am and police cordons were put in place.

Travellers were told to expect delays while the road was closed and diversions for buses were put in place.

Bomb disposal officers were called to the scene to examine the suspicious package.

But they gave it the all clear and the station was reopened at around midday.

Crowds of passengers were spotted waiting outside the station.

Buses resumed service, the road was reopened and police took down their cordons.

Transport for London tweeted just before midday saying: “Victoria Coach Station / Buckingham Palace Rd: Police incident – closures have been removed and roads have been reopened."
