The hotel in Kensington which hosted the victorious 1966 England World Cup team has teamed up with the widow of Bobby Moore to raise money for charity.

The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington High Street has collaborated with Stephanie Moore to create bespoke dishes based on the former England captain’s favourite meals.

It comes as the restaurant celebrates both its 50th birthday, and 50 years since Moore held aloft the famous Jules Rimet trophy at Wembley .

The new seasonal menu which will be available on the Park Terrace lounge menu, aims to help raise £50,000 for Cancer Research UK through the Bobby Moore Fund.

The hotel’s executive head chef, Steve Munkley, has been working closely with Stephanie to create dishes inspired by Moore’s favourite food, with a healthy twist, which is available for the rest or this year.

Moore, the only England captain to lift the World Cup, died in 1993 after battling bowel cancer. He was just 51.

The charity was set up in his name and memory by his widow fund pioneering, life-saving bowel cancer research.

Every time a guest orders the Spring menu a donation of £1 will be made to the Bobby Moore fund, which raises money for bowel cancer research.

Steve Munkley, head chef at the hotel’s Park Terrace restaurant, said: “It’s been a pleasure working with Stephanie to bring to life some of Bobby’s best loved dishes to celebrate ours, and the World Cup win’s 50th anniversary when Bobby and the team stayed at The Royal Garden Hotel.

"Together, we have ensured that the menu offers healthy variations of his favourite meals. To keep it fresh for our guests, the menu will change seasonally and diners can expect to find a selection of wholesome dishes which are also rich in vital nutrients such as calcium, protein and iron, which help protect against cancer.”

Stephanie added: “I am delighted that the Bobby Moore Fund will be working alongside the Royal Garden Hotel in 2016, for what hopes to be an exciting year recognising 50 years since Bobby lifted the World Cup.”

It is one of many ways the hotel is its 50 years and the World Cup anniversary. Last month its staff wore Moore’s iconic red England shirt for the day , and in July the hotel’s bar will be transformed into the Bobby Moore lounge, offering themed snacks, live screenings and a number of other football-themed activities for guests to enjoy.
