Heroic mum Victoria Milligan has been named the official ambassador of a 10k race through the streets of Fulham and Chelsea.

She will be the face of the Vitality WestRun London race which takes place on October 4.

Victoria lost her leg in a tragic boat accident which claimed the lives of her husband and daughter in 2013 and will raise money for Child Bereavement UK.

She said: “After physically adapting to losing my leg, I am now able to wear a running blade, which has enabled me to get back into health and fitness.

“I have never run 10k before, but I am determined to cross the finish line regardless of whether I run, jog or walk, all in aid of Child Bereavement UK. If I can do it, really, anyone can.”

Designed as a community festival, the event will also include a one-mile family fun run as well as the 10k race.

It will start on New King’s Road, next to Eel Brook Common, the location of the events race village. The route will then take runners left onto Harwood Road, where they will then join Fulham Road, passing the 1k marker and onto Parsons Green Lane, before looping right and joining New King’s Road again at the 2k point.

The route continues back onto the Fulham Road before joining Munster Road where they will pass the 5k marker and the on-course water station.

Runners will then turn left onto Fulham Road to the roar of the spectators, passing the 6k marker before looping around Jerdan Place’s cafés and restaurants, and continuing past Fulham Broadway tube station.

At 7k, runners will loop around the grounds of Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge, before heading back along Fulham Road, and turning left onto Harwood Road, before runners turn onto the New King’s Road to cross the finish line on Eel Brook Common.
