Black Friday, you've all heard of it and no doubt seen images of shoppers scrambling over each other to claim the final fridge on sale or the last remaining discounted plasma screen TV. But what actually is it?

The term "Black Friday" comes from from across the pond, in America. Referring to the day after Thanksgiving when it's tradition for retailers to slash prices for shoppers.

In the UK, it falls on the final payday before Christmas , so with personal banks full, shoppers are at the ready.

It's an annual event offering customers discounted goods, anything from a woolly jumper to a cooker, you name it, everything is included in the Black Friday extravaganza.

This year, Black Friday falls on November 25, when shoppers can grab a bargain both online and in store.

Where to go in west London

Westfield Shopping Centre, Shepherd’s Bush

With 265 shops to choose from, there's sure to be a bargain or two to pick up.

Treaty Shopping Centre, Hounslow

Some of Treaty’s biggest stores include Next and Debenhams and with many other stores on the high street including Argos, it's the perfect location for Black Friday shopping.

Looking for that discounted TV or laptop? Look no further, this shopping centre has a Currys, another store which jumps onto the Black Friday bandwagon.

Currys are a big player in the Black Friday shenanigans, last year their top offers included up to £600 off HP laptops and £200 off TV's.

The supermarket already has a list online of deals you can bag on Black Friday, including up to half price on selected bikes, deals on Microwaves and offers on clothing.

The online retailer takes part in Black Friday year on year and 2016 will be no different.

On their website, the retailer say: "Our wide selection of deals will include electronics, toys, pet supplies, clothing, jewellery and more."
