The grass isn't always greener in a West Drayton street after it faced an unexpected nightmare on Wednesday afternoon (April 19) as a lawnmower broke down blocking the road for an hour.

Twitter user @TheMagicPhil spotted the chaos in the Glebe Estate at around 12.25pm as a group of men in hi-visibility jackets attempted to resolve the problem.

The rear axle of the ride-on mower is believed to have split in two causing the blockage.

Seven men battled to clear the mower from the road

Workers used a jack to load the vehicle onto a trailer to clear the road.

The operation took around an hour according to Phil, who said the mower was finally shifted at 1.20pm, showing the recovery team really didn't cut any corners.
