A bin lorry carrying three men overturned and blocked Stockley Road, after colliding with a kerb in West Drayton.

Three fire engines attended the scene to release anyone that may have been trapped, on the A408 Stockley Road just before 9am on Thursday (March 24).

The lorry completely blocked the busy road southbound, and rubbish bags could be seen strewn across the road and pavement.

A London Fire Brigade (LFB) spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to an overturned dustbin lorry on Stockley Road in West Drayton earlier this morning.

"Three men inside the lorry were treated at the scene for shock by the London Ambulance Service.

The brigade sent two fire engines and one fire rescue unit but luckily no one was trapped or had to be freed.

Firefighters from Wembley and Hillingdon were at the scene and confirmed the incident was over for them at 9:09am. They had packed up and left by 9:40am.

Stockley Road is closed with delays southbound at the Horton Road junction. Diversions are in place for the U5 and A10 bus services.

Metropolitan Police were still at the scene at 11.30am.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at 8.46am to Stockley Road, near the bridge, to reports that a dust cart had collided with a kerb and overturned.

"No one is injured and officers remain at the scene."
