TV comedian Bill Bailey has shocked the web with this picture of a giant spider in Willesden.

Arachnophobics look away, because Bill Bailey found a whopper of a spider in his friend's garden and people are going crazy for it on Twitter.

The comedian shared a picture of the gargantuan spider last week on the social media site, telling his followers: "Spotted this fine specimen in a friend's garden."

After the comedian was bombarded with questions about the arachnid, Bill shared another picture, this time along with a beetle - to give it a bit of scale.

Of course, the internet reacted accordingly, with his near two million followers tweeting their shock.

And the huge spider wasn't spotted in a tropical rainforest or hot country such as Australia, but surprisingly in his friend's garden in Willesden.

"Here he/she is again this time being photobombed by a beetle, and it was in not Oz but Willesden," he wrote.

The picture comes as experts have warned that spiders as big as mice are invading British shores.

Perhaps this is a reconnaissance spider intent on scoping out British defences?
