The Beckhams and Brangelina rave about this west London-based children's entertainer and fitness expert

The life of Amanda's Action Club began in a community hall in Acton nearly 26 years ago

She has an A-list following and is the Jamie Oliver of west London's playgrounds.

Celebrity children's entertainer and fitness expert Amanda Frolich has hosted parties for the likes of the Beckhams, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Amanda Holden's kids.

She brought to life Amanda's Action Club 25 years ago, starting out in a community hall in Acton before building an empire across west London and beyond to tackle the obesity crisis in a fun, interactive and educational way.

Speaking to getwestlondon, the 47-year-old from Greenford said: "To my surprise, the classes started to fill up very quickly! Back in those days there weren't many pre-school classes for parents and carers to attend so I knew there was a gap in the market.

"One day I decided to use props and saw how children responded better using an object to hold onto whilst singing, dancing and interacting with me.

"My concept was born! Using a prop in a physical and fun way then relating it to a song."

The mum-of-one recently won the Entrepreneurs Network competition set up by businessman James Sinclair, who made his fortune following the success of his first soft play centre.

Her prize was the business mogul himself for one day! He went along to one of her classes in Chiswick Town Hall where he performed a magic show before sitting down to offer advice on growing the business.

As well as in Chiswick, Amanda runs her learning through play sessions in Parsons Green, Notting Hill, Kensington, Wandsworth and Swiss Cottage, as well as hosting private parties.

The programme helps physical development for babies from four months to toddlers and pre-school children aged five.

Each session includes a warm up action song, core activities to music, dancing, exercise, and yoga.

The aim is to engage children early on in fitness to aid their development through multisensory mini workouts using props combined with music and movement - with an underlying educational theme.

Her family extravaganzas feature everything from classes for little ones to breakdancing for teenagers and pampering for parents and she even trains dinner ladies to get children moving in the playground.

Amanda is married and has a 12-year-old daughter named Bibi.

She said: “We all worry about ensuring our children exercise enough. It is vital to give them new, fun and exciting games so they don’t lose interest. But sometimes parents lose inspiration for fresh ideas.

"My classes give mums and dads a great opportunity to play alongside their children, see how they develop their skills and discover what they are really capable of – which is often so much more than they are given credit for.

“Children should be allowed to be children – to show free expression, dance, sing, let off steam and learn at their own pace.”

Social media

Diving into the realm of social media, Amanda has also recently released her very own app - Amanda's Action Club.

She has developed her very own action character Amanda, a four-year-old girl trying to persuade pre-schoolchildren to get moving.

Launched just last week, the app allows children to listen to music, watch activities and interact with Amanda.

"I have always tried to tackle the obesity epidemic and teach children from an early age how to be active and healthy through my fun, fitness and music program," says Amanda.

Currently a seven day free trial use of the app is on offer.

The early years

Amanda began her career with Ealing Council as a sports assistant at the age of 17, moving up the ranks to assistant manager.

She went on to gain coaching qualifications and attended Action Kids - a music and movement course.

Things took off after she hired a community hall in Acton where she began her own classes which grew to hosting children's birthday parties.

From then she ventured into music and since meeting a record producer at one of the parties is now working on her fourth album.

It all started with Fun, Fitness and Music with Amanda’s Action Club in collaboration with Alison Wheeler, lead singer of the Beautiful South, and Teletubbies theme composer Andrew McCrorie Shand.

Songs include funked-up favourites such as The Grand Old Duke of York, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, and the catchy Tidy Up Song.

Other work

Amanda has her hands full as a children's fitness expert for government initiative Change4Life - a national campaign to get kids active.

This saw her kick start early years fitness within local children's centres, day nurseries and Sure Start, offering classes throughout London boroughs.

Some of her more charitable work includes being a lead entertainer at Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity Christmas Party and giving her time to other charities such as Ickle Pickles and The London Taxi Drivers Fund for Underprivileged Children.

Celebrity feedback

The Beckhams

Amanda entertained a group of children at David and Victoria Beckham’s star-studded World Cup party in 2006.

She was recommended by Victoria’s sister, Louise, who said: “The party was a huge success and my family will continue to ask Amanda to entertain in the future.”

Amanda has entertained at all three of Louise’s children’s parties.

“What I especially like about Amanda is her energy and imagination," Louise added.

"Her parties are brilliant for both children and parents. Amanda’s parties go on for hours and she entertains the whole time she is there.”

Amanda Holden

“My daughter loves her. It was phenomenal – the party of the year!

"I wanted something different, fun and really active for my four-year-old’s birthday party and Amanda’s Action Club delivered big time!

"Amanda’s energy is incredible. The music felt fresh though there were plenty of recognisable classic kiddies’ tunes. The children loved the props, toys and musical instruments that we all used during the activities. Everyone joined in - the mums and dads even got moving too!”

Sarah Beeny

“Amanda was the first entertainer we’ve had and she was fab – full of life and really bubbly. There were mostly boys, which is tough, but she kept them under control and was really enthusiastic.”

Catherine Tate

“Amanda was amazing. There were 25 3-4 year olds and Amanda was great, really energetic. There was loads of stuff going on – bags and bags of toys for the children to play with and constant music including some really funky nursery rhymes.

"We could go into the other room and close the door if we wanted to. The children just followed her around and she had them tidying up afterwards. We would certainly recommend her.”

Other celebrities she has hosted parties for include Take That's Mark Owen, Peter Jones from Dragon's Den and Katie Price.
