BBC presenter and two-wheeled commuter, Jeremy Vine, has sparked a debate after posting a video on his Facebook page appearing to show a car driving very close to a cyclist.

It shows a car appearing to suddenly pull out inches in front of cyclist on Hammersmith Road, Hammersmith, as traffic heads towards Kensington.

The motorist is then seen driving behind the cyclist while sounding her horn.

The footage sparked debate on Radio 2 DJ’s Facebook page, with users arguing who was at fault in the video.

Mr Vine, who also presents Eggheads and Crimewatch, himself commented: “I am only trying to get to work without dying. It shouldn’t be too much to ask.”

The latest footage was captured from the helmet-cam of the presenter as he made his way to work from his home in Chiswick on Wednesday (January 4) morning, and uploaded onto his Facebook page later that same day.

In his post, Mr Vine writes: “A cycle moment to show you from this morning’s commute. I was behind the affected cyclist. The white car wants to change lanes, so why wait?”

Commenting on the video, Heather Meek wrote: “Thank you for sharing. How many people have to die before drivers are forced to consider other road users?”

But Amy Glover wrote: “I actually think the cyclists are being hugely irresponsible here. Surely they should ride in single file.

“It’s easy for cars to miss cyclists when they are positioned in their blind spot plus it’s clearly dark!”

And Andy Smith added: “How about you concentrate on presenting radio..... n stop this hate campaign against motorists. ..... you cyclists think you own road......!!!”
